Adding Flexibility
In Your Repertoire?
When it comes to buying band
charts, the primary determining factor in deciding what kind
of sheet music to buy is how many instruments are in your band.
However, when ordering custom arrangements for orchestra, it
is highly suggested to buy expandable arrangements.
For example, lets say that
your band is composed of a basic rhythm section plus two horns
(tenor saxophone and trumpet). It is wise to be able to exercise
flexibility if you need to increase the size of the band by adding
additional brass instruments. Thus, rather than ordering your
arrangements to the exact specification of your band; in this
case, it is recommended that you specify that the arrangement
be written for additional instruments (alto saxophone, trumpet,
trombone, guitar, etc.).
Although most of the time
you may not need the extra charts for additional instruments,
it's nice when you can have the flexibility to put a bigger band
together. Bands that are expandable are usually a much valuable
commodity to booking agents and event planners.
